If you’re not using social media, you’re losing money

Social media has completely changed how we do business and how we market ourselves. It's one more venue to add to your long list of marketing tools. Keeping up with everything you need to do to be successful can be very overwhelming, but social media cannot be ignored. If you do, you'll get lost in the crowd…and you'll lose money.

Why is social media so important to you and your business?

Because more and more people are making purchases right from Social Media sites, and you want your business to be the one they’re buying from.

Let's look at some statistics:

  1. According to NetChunks, the Webmasters Magazine, "1 in 4 people have made a purchase via a brand's Facebook page."
  2. Business2Community tells us 80 percent of social media users prefer to connect with brands through Facebook.
  3. 488 million users regularly use Facebook mobile, shares All Facebook.
  4. Facebook's own quarterly earnings report stated over 1.01 billion (yes, billion) people use Facebook on a monthly basis.
  5. This statistic from Business2Community is my favorite: A whopping 77% of B2C companies and 43% of B2B companies acquired customers from Facebook.
  6. I like this so much, I'm gonna say it again: A whopping 77% of B2C companies and 43% of B2B companies acquired customers from Facebook.

And this is just Facebook! Imagine what you could do if you also connected on Twitter, Google+, or YouTube!

I could just stop right here and ask…

Are you willing to miss out on all this traffic?

But I won't. Because there's more.

A survey of 3800 marketers in the 2012 Social Media Marketing Industry Report shows some of the hottest topics are Facebook and blogging, and 76% plan to increase their use of videos and YouTube.

Social media expert, Dr. Hunter Madsen, of Yahoo Canada, doesn’t hold back when he said, "As a marketer, I you're absent from the social media and social networking scene, you are literally declaring yourself irrelevant."

You're not irrelevant, are you?

Make room for Social Media, because things have changed

Nearly 97% consumers now use online media when researching products or services, according to BIA/Kelsey’s ongoing consumer tracking study. The misconception is that only young people use these technologies for shopping, when in fact, nearly everyone uses them.

Marketing is no longer a one-way broadcast…it's a multi-point conversation. In the past, communications were “broadcast” exclusively through mass marketing channels like radio, TV, newspapers, and even the door-to-door distribution of directories like the Yellow Pages.

But you know things have changed.

Now, companies market online through their websites and sending emails to subscribers. Banner ads, news items, emails and other tactics drive prospects to Web sites where companies communicate their messages and influence their prospect's behavior.

With social media, the communication is basically controlled by your prospects. Members can ask their community about a product, service, or company and get multiple opinions, recommendations, or referrals. They also freely discuss their experiences with their friends and followers. Online, the new “word-of-mouth” is social media like Facebook and Twitter, which have more than 700 million members, combined.

So, again I ask…
